This Little Barn of Mine

Saturday,
I decided to head back to a little town that I'm from to go to the their antique shops on Main St.
It's my new favorite happy place! I was like a kid in a candy store on Saturday!

I just knew I had to have it! The owner was happy for me too!

The husband did not understand why in the world did I bring home a rusty metal barn. He also really rolled his eyes when I told him I paid $20 dollars for it! It was just love at first sight! He should be use to this now! Rusty tricycle here and rusty wagon here.

I knew exactly what I was going to do with it as soon as I saw it!

It's going to be a bird feeder!
Tina, from Cherry Hill Cottage made one from a metal doll house here!
I just love her blog! You will fall in love too!

Meet my newest obsession!
Do you see him?

How about now?

I don't know much about them really. I just know I love them! I think they're called elf knee huggers?  There made in Japan in the 1950's. I hope to have a little tree full of them! He was $3.00!

Look at this cute face!

I had a fun day! I hope I can get back there sooner!
Did you find any new loves?
Have a wonderful week and I hope it's full of sunshine for you!

xoxo

Aww! Jennifer I love both of these neat finds. The elves I too am crazy about. I have several that were part of my familys tree decor growing up that I confiscated from my mom years ago. I would love to find more as well. As for the tin barn, I thought at first it was going to be for the boys. I remember these. I really do love the idea of it as a bird feeder though. That is going to be so cute!

I just looked at Tina's blog and oh gosh, that is going to be sooo cute!!! What a wonderful idea! My friend was watering her hanging plant yesterday, she put too much water and it fell off the nail...a little birds nest with 2 little eggs in it rolled out and smashed on the ground:( She was soooo upset about it. I think she needs a birdhouse!

I had that very barn when I was little. I think I was about 9 or 10 my mamaw took me to town and bought it for me with her green stamps. I will never forget it. I played with that barn for ever! Great find!

That is the cutest tin barn. I can't wait to see it made into a bird feeder. I'll go over and check out Tina's blog too.

I have a barn just like this and a smaller one too! I used to play with one similar when I was little.
I can't wait to see how this works as a birdhouse. May have to borrow that idea!

Love the little elf guy too!
They always remind me of the Rice Krispies guys.
:)

OMG that little elf is also called an "elf on the shelf" I think too! I've been wanting one forever and can never find one!! They sell a modern version of it with a book, but I don't want the book, just the elf. So cute :) Good for you. And the barn for a bird feeder? You go girl...that idea is beyond awesome! I ♥ it :)

We grew up with the 50s elves too.
My sister has lain claim to them. Just because she is older and mom's favorite. (ha)

I had the tin barn, well, I ahd to share that too with all the kids. And from being in the weather it got just as rusty. Shows it was loved, not neglected.

I'm starting to like vintage items more and more every day! Makes me sad for all the family heirlooms I've passed up in the past! LOVE the barn!!

I'm starting a linky party on Mondays for "Make a List Mondays". I would love it if you could join!! :)

I can imagine your husband because my dad gets THE look like we are insane whenever my mom or I bring "junk" home too. Love your barn and the ideas you have for it. I have a metal dollhouse, but it's from my childhood, so for sentimental reasons, it's still up in my attic.
